This comprehensive course is ideal for people wanting to work in the fast-paced world of graphic design, digital design and visual communications. Students will gain a diverse range of skills in technical and theoretical design principles and their application in everyday design. Students will expand on their creative talents through practical exercises in typography, branding, packaging, digital and online design, illustration and portfolio design, all while working in a collaborative, studio environment. Completion of this course will provide students with the skills needed to work individually or collaboratively as a graphic designer, digital artist or illustrator within the creative industries environment.

The Diploma of Graphic Design can be combined with other programs as listed below to attain the awards of Diploma of Graphic Design from TAFE Queensland and the relevant degree from the university. Students undertake initial study at TAFE Queensland and complete the degree at the relevant university. Duration, location, mode of study, semester intake, electives and specialisations may vary. All mandatory university admission and English language requirements must be met before university enrolment is finalised. For more information contact the relevant university. Note: TAFE Queensland students making transition to the degree may need to wait six months to start with the semester one university intake.
To apply for a combined diploma/degree, applicants must select the Diploma of Graphic Design for the relevant TAFE Queensland location on their application and nominate their preferred degree/university (one only). Applicants can list the stand alone diploma or the combined program but not both. Listing more than one is not needed because they have the same eligibility and ATAR/rank requirements.
