Activate your career in screen and media with this diploma qualification. This course is ideal for creative people seeking employment in post-production, including video editing, animation and visual effects within the interactive media industries. This course will provide students with the advanced skills required to work within this creatively challenging sector. Enhance your skills and job prospects by choosing to specialise in post-production and learn how to edit video, develop concept art and create, texture and animate 3D models. Students will also learn how to composite green screen footage, create titles, make set extensions and create visual effects. In the Bachelor of Digital Design (Game Design) students will gain experience in the design and creation of games and interactive digital media. This will include the theoretical and practical skills and knowledge required to work in either a technical or creative role. Students will develop an understanding of the game design and production process from concept development and idea generation through to the production methodologies that are applied in today’s leading game studios. Students will gain a thorough understanding of game design developing skills in areas such as game design and game art. This will include key concepts such as game mechanics, artificial intelligence, 3D graphics, animation and real-time technology. These areas of expertise will be enhanced by exposure to essential knowledge required to participate and engage with the game and interactive design industry. This will include areas such as teamwork, problem-solving strategies and contemporary production methodologies.

Note

This combined qualification leads to the awards of Diploma of Screen and Media (Post-production specialisation) and Bachelor of Digital Design (Games Design). The degree is delivered by TAFE Queensland in partnership with the University of Canberra. Applicants offered a place in this course who are not eligible for a subsidised enrolment will pay full fee. Fee subsidies and VET Student Loans may be available to eligible applicants, refer to tafeqld.edu.au/study-with-us/what-it-costs/index.html for more information. The degree is a Commonwealth supported place.
