Course outline

Elevate your creative practice and gain a range of fundamental film making skills with this diploma qualification. This course focuses on creative expression using a range of cinematic tools, and innovation through cross-disciplinary practice. This course has been designed to be creatively and personally empowering with self-devised projects and outcomes tailored to meet your individual needs. Led by industry experts, this immersive and hands-on course will give you valuable screen production skills in directing, camera operation, lighting, sound recording and editing. You’ll also have the opportunity to design and produce your own short screen productions. The degree provides graduates with the learning and experience to initiate and build creative performances, projects and events. The course is presented in an innovative partnership between TAFE Queensland and the University of Canberra. Graduates will be able to engage as arts facilitators, educators, producers and project managers in creating, leading and facilitating projects that are designed to have social, economic and cultural impacts on individuals, organisations and communities. Graduates will be able to work across a variety of media and collaborate with performance makers, educational institutions and community organisations. As a graduate, you will learn to operate in varied organisational contexts, engaging in both non-profit and commercial activities. A range of elective units is on offer to expand the student’s skills base and knowledge including study in Music, Visual Arts, Gaming, Fashion and Digital Design.

Note

The diploma component is undertaken at Mount Gravatt, and the bachelor component is undertaken at South Bank. Applicants offered a place in the diploma who are not eligible for a subsidised enrolment will pay full fee. Fee subsidies and VET Student Loans may be available to eligible applicants, refer to tafeqld.edu.au/study-with-us/what-it-costs/index.html for more information. The degree is delivered by TAFE Queensland in partnership with the University of Canberra. The degree is a Commonwealth supported place.
