Course outline

The Diploma of Music builds the foundational skills underpinning a successful career in today’s modern music industry. You’ll learn and apply theoretical knowledge and best practices while accessing studios with cutting-edge equipment.

You’ll develop foundational and generalized skills in songwriting, music production, electronic music production, music industry and collaborative music making.

Through hands-on training, we’ll help you amplify your talents, refine your skills and sharpen your craft in a matter of months. You’ll be guided by master lecturers who will mentor you in all key areas, while also giving you great insight into the music industry.

Note

Duration is seven months full-time. Part-time study available for eligible applicants (excluding international student visa holders).
SAE has a range of approaches to learning and teaching that can be activated to provide flexibility in the face of changing circumstances as required, to support student progression regardless of external factors.

Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; Interview

Additional entry requirements

Entry to this program requires an interview and evidence of music practice/portfolio. SAE will contact applicants to arrange an interview. For information about the interview, contact SAE Brisbane on 1800 723 338.

Portfolios may include: links to your music or musical performances on YouTube, SoundCloud, links to online portfolio pages, a statement providing an overview of existing skills and knowledge in music production, including examples from senior secondary music classes, AMEB and CPM certification, appointment in school orchestras or bands, etc.
