Course outline

Students learn all aspects of the biology of animals including structure, function, anatomy, physiology, ecology, behaviour and evolution, through their chosen major in Animal Ecology, Applied Zoology, Natural History or Palaeobiology. Our majors are designed to ensure that graduates are equipped with work-ready skills that are in demand, and we offer a range of interdisciplinary minors to help students extend and broaden their expertise. With a strong focus on field and laboratory-based hands-on practical training, our course is underpinned by the latest research. Graduates understand major zoological concepts and are aware of how these are connected with the biological, environmental, rural, and physical sciences. Students also learn to solve complex problems, collect and analyse scientific data and communicate scientific information to experts and the wider public. With access to a diverse array of landscapes and ecosystems, students develop field and laboratory techniques and learn to evaluate social and ethical issues related to zoology and animal interactions with their environment and with people.
