This innovative, dual degree program takes a narrative and patient/woman-focused approach to learning, integrating practice across diverse, complex and dynamic healthcare environments. Students will gain specific knowledge and professional recognition across 2 programs and benefit from a program that links theory and practice through a variety of teaching methods including workshops, online learning, and clinical simulation. Students undertake more than 1,600 hours of supervised clinical placements in a range of clinical settings including hospitals and other healthcare organisations. For more information, visit Bachelors of Nursing/Midwifery at UQ.
Placements in the nursing/midwifery program are secured with a number of providers, and in their first year students are allocated a placement within 1.5 hours of their residential address where possible. To ensure they receive a broad range of experiences, they may undertake placement activities at clinical partner hospitals and health services such as Metro North, Metro South, Mater Hospitals, aged care and nursing homes, West Moreton Hospital and Health Service, private providers, and regional and rural health settings. For more information, visit Clinical placements on the UQ website.
