Course outline

Is your dream to become a doctor? Take your first steps on a challenging and fulfilling career path. This highly competitive program provides provisional direct entry (subject to entry requirements) to Griffith University’s Doctor of Medicine program at Sunshine Coast University Hospital – and to your future medical career.

In this program you will understand how the human body works and what happens when diseases, infections and clinical disorders occur. You’ll study the foundations of medical science, including pathophysiology, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology and pharmacology and gain provisional direct entry (subject to entry requirements) to Griffith University’s Doctor of Medicine program at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. You’ll build hands-on clinical knowledge and skills in a small group of like-minded students. Other requirements

Before undertaking a clinical placement, students must provide evidence of hepatitis B immunisation, undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Blue Card; refer to institution. Admissions Criteria

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; Current or Recent Year 12 with no previous attempt at tertiary study

Fixed closing date

Applications lodged after 8 December 2023 may not be considered in time for the mid-January offer round. Applications for this program close 29 December 2023. After this date, no new applicants can apply, but existing applicants can reorder this preference. Late offers after the January offer round will only be made if places remain in the program.

Additional entry requirements

This program is for 2023 Year 12 applicants or applicants who completed Year 12 no more than three years prior to application and who have not previously attempted tertiary study at diploma level or higher. Applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander should visit the UniSC website for information regarding selection via the Indigenous Medicine Access Pathway Program. Due to the competitiveness of this program, Access UniSC and QTAC Education Access Scheme (EAS) do not apply to this program.
