Course outline

Combining a Bachelor of Computer Science and a Master of Cyber Security in a dual degree offers students a unique opportunity for extended study into a field within computer science that significantly impacts today’s world: cyber security. Graduate with a combination of high-level technical skills and a global perspective on cyber security and information security fundamentals – skills that are in high demand from some of the world’s biggest technology corporations. With the Bachelor of Computer Science students combine theory with hands-on experience and gain a deeper understanding of all aspects of computer technology. Then, with the Master of Cyber Security, students will develop an understanding of the global cyber security landscape, informed by industry and government experts, to find better ways to defend, adapt and lead for a resilient, more productive digital world. Note

Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C) is recommended for this program. Students without Specialist Mathematics or equivalent may be required to undertake preparatory courses which may not enable the program to be completed in the minimum time frame without overloading or undertaking summer study.

Majors

Bachelor of Computer Science majors: Cyber security; data science; machine learning; programming languages; scientific computing.
Master of Cyber Security fields of study: Cryptography; cyber defence.

Fee notes

All places in the bachelor degree are commonwealth supported, and the master degree has a mix of CSP and full fee places. Students progressing to the master’s year will be allocated a CSP place based on merit. Students who do not receive a CSP place may study on a full fee basis.

Other requirements

Students must pass all courses in order to progress into the Master of Cyber Security component of this dual degree.
