Course outline

The Bachelor of Business (Dean’s Scholar)is a 3-year course with an academic scholarship leading into an additional year of Honours study. The Bachelor of Business course is uniquely designed to inspire you to realise your full potential, to think entrepreneurially, and to ethically and sustainably shape the future of twenty-first century business. Early in the course, you will develop core business capabilities including critical thinking, professional communication, digital and technological fluency, teamwork, and global citizenship. You then undertake focused and authentic study and research in your chosen business discipline, engaging with the real world of business through work-integrated learning, projects and placements to ignite your professional career. Additional Honours study provides high-achieving students with analytical, theoretical and empirical skills that differentiate you from other graduates.

Subject to maintaining course and GPA requirements, Dean’s Scholars students receive a scholarship of up to $20,000 paid over the duration of the course.

This course is covered by the QUT Offer Guarantee. Deferment is not available.

Selection ranks: You will be considered solely on the basis of your ATAR or selection rank from your ATAR or Australian IB Diploma completed in 2023 or 2022. Other qualifications and experiences may be allocated selection ranks for entry to other QUT courses, but will not be considered for this course.

Note

You will first be enrolled in the Bachelor of Business and you can choose to study either on-campus (internal) and/or online. Upon completion of the degree you will be automatically offered the Bachelor of Business (Honours) which is solely taught on-campus.

Prerequisites

Applicant must be 16; Completion of Year 12 or attained age 18 years; No prior study

Additional entry requirements

You must be a 2023 Australian ATAR or IB Diploma Year 12 student or a student returning from a gap year (i.e. undertaken no further study or work experience) who completed your ATAR or IB Diploma Year 12 education in Australia in 2022.

Assumed knowledge

English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C); and for accounting, behavioural economics, economics, finance, financial planning, and marketing majors – General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)
