Course outline

This four-year program provides students with the high-level academic knowledge and professional skills necessary to foster children’s learning and development from Prep (the first year of school) through to Year 6. Students cover all aspects of the Australian curriculum, while developing vital knowledge about teaching and learning, child development, diversity and inclusion, and Indigenous education. Graduates are ready to enter the classroom after a minimum of 80 days of supervised professional experience across the program, where they demonstrate their competence to meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Other requirements

A Blue Card is required; refer to institution. Students undertaking an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program are required to successfully complete the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) in order to graduate,and must pass the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA).

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C); Any General subject from the Sciences Learning Area (Units 3 and 4, C); Teaching Personal Statement
