Institution minimum age requirements

You must be the age listed below, or older, to study at the relevant institution.

Applicants under 17 who don’t have a completed Year 12 qualification may only be considered for admission if their qualifications and level of attainment are acceptable
Griffith CollegeCompletion of year 12 attained or attained age 18 years with additional study/work experience
Griffith University

Applicants must have completed Year 12 or turned 17 by 1 November 2022 for trimester 3, 2022, 1 March 2023 for trimester 1, 2023, 1 July 2023 for trimester 2, 2023 or 1 November 2023 for trimester 3, 2023

Domestic applicants under 17 will not be considered for entry to Griffith programs unless they have completed:

  • Year 12
  • An AQF certificate III (or higher) qualification and all admission requirements

Applicants under 16 should contact Griffith for further details.

International applicants who are under the age of 17 at the time they would commence their studies are not accepted for admission.

James Cook University18 or completed Year 12
Queensland University of Technology

Applicants are required to have either completed Year 12 or turned 18.

Applicants under 18 will not be considered for entry to QUT unless they have completed:

  • Year 12
  • An AQF diploma (or higher) qualification
  • Passed at least one full-time year of degree study
SAE Creative Media Institute17 or completed Year 12
Southern Cross UniversityApplicants who are under 18 years of age as at 1 March 2023 for semester 1 and 2, 2023 who do not have a completed Year 12 qualification may only be considered for admission if their qualifications and level of attainment are acceptable to the relevant Head of School
TAFE QueenslandYear 12 or attained Year 12 leaving age
The University of QueenslandNo minimum age however students who will be under 16 years of age by the term start date must have their enrolment approved by the Faculty and the Academic Registrar. Students who do not receive this approval may be offered a deferred place.

USC17 or completed Year 12
