Course outline

Enrolled nurses provide nursing care for people across the health care continuum and at all stages of life. This qualification will allow students to work as an enrolled nurse working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse. On successful completion, students will be able to apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in accordance with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for registration as an Enrolled Nurse. Note

This course has mandatory on and off the job training components. The off the job training is conducted as the theoretical component of the course. The on-the-job training is known as Clinical Placement and is unpaid work experience that is undertaken at a set time at the end of each term at a relevant health facility. Students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 400 hours of Clinical Placement.

Throughout the duration of this course, students studying by Mixed Mode will also be required to attend compulsory Residential Schools.

Other requirements

On accepting an offer for this course, it is strongly recommended that students start gathering evidence to complete the mandatory checks required to attend clinical placement. Applicant must be 17; Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years

Additional entry requirements

To be considered for this course, all applicants must have attended and satisfactorily completed at least 6 years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between grades 7 and 12. This education must have been completed in one of the following countries; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America. If students do not meet these educational requirements, they are required to provide evidence of an acceptable English Language test. For more information see English Language Proficiency.
