Course outline

You will gain the skills and knowledge in the physical, biomedical and psychological sciences that you will need to become an exercise specialist. You will learn the role of exercise in health maintenance and rehabilitation. You will learn how to apply psychological theories to topics such as thinking and perceiving, motivation, stress, health, criminal activity, and group behaviour. You will also learn how to evaluate and understand tests that measure intellectual, behavioural and emotional states. You will develop interpersonal and communication skills and learn about the principles of counselling and core areas of psychology. Career opportunities

You may find opportunities as a consultant in sport and exercise behaviour, exercise specialist, rehabilitation adviser or manager, cardiac technician or respiratory scientist. You will also be qualified to work in guidance and health management.

Accreditation as an exercise scientist through Exercise and Sports Science Australia (subject to application). Affiliate membership with the Australian Psychological Society.
