This course is designed to prepare graduates of other disciplines to become registered nurses. Students are taught to apply clinical reasoning skills in nursing practice, work effectively in teams to promote quality health outcomes for clients, and provide high quality client-centred care through safe and effective nursing practice according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia National Competency Standards. Clinical placements are undertaken at the PAH and other clinical partner sites.
On application, applicants will be required to demonstrate their English language proficiency. On admission, the following requirements must be met: first aid certificate (including CPR); Blue Card; medical questionnaire; police check for criminal history; current status with respect to blood-borne transmissible viruses and tuberculosis (TB); and a schedule of immunisations. Prior study
Completion of an approved bachelor’s degree within the last 10 years from a recognised tertiary institution with a cumulative GPA of 4.0 or higher. Contact the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at nmsw@enquire.uq.edu.au for more information on prior studies.
To enrol in this program, applicants must have attended and satisfactorily completed at least 6 years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between grades 7 and 12. This education must have been completed in one of the following countries; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America.
