Course outline

This double degree gives you two clear career pathways. As a graduate, you may choose to be a qualified commercial pilot with engineering qualifications, knowing that airlines prefer their pilots to have an engineering qualification. Or, you could choose to be an engineer with flight qualifications, recognising that engineering companies building aircraft or aviation systems prefer flight qualified engineers. It’s all achievable through this unique degree that combines the electronic or mechanical engineering major in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with the core requirements of the Bachelor of Aviation. Note

Students study over three trimesters each year, completing the five-year program in four years.

Career opportunities

As a graduate, you’ll be qualified as an electronics or mechanical engineer and will have completed the full theory component for your commercial pilot’s licence. This is an amazing opportunity to become an elite pilot at the leading edge of aviation, or to become a highly qualified engineer in the aviation industry. Students wishing to obtain their pilots licence will also need to enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Flight Management to complete the flight training practical component of their licence.
