Become a leader in occupational therapy and help others maximise their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The course provides students with an underpinning knowledge in professional practice, human body systems, psychology and contemporary health care. The education and training includes occupational therapy units covering a wide range of practice contexts, and develops skills in areas such as assessment, service development, evaluation and critical thinking, enabling students to graduate work ready. The course has a strong focus on practical learning experiences and students benefit from industry placements across a range of practice areas, including the purpose-built Allied Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton. Students who select to study some units via online study may be required to attend compulsory residential schools.
Students are required to complete a minimum of 1000 hours of professional practice. Some of this is integrated within earlier units of the course, and there are two additional full-time professional education (WIL) blocks.
