Course outline

Pursue a professional career in music and integrate the development of practical skills with theoretical and historical musical knowledge. Students undertake practical study in their chosen instrument or voice for the first three years, as well as courses in musicology, musicianship, and music electives. A research project is completed in the final year of the program. Students can enhance their practical skills through master classes, student performances and Queensland Performing Arts Centre concerts. All applications for audition must be received by the School of Music by 19 August 2024. QTAC applications for this program close 30 September 2024.

Additional entry requirements

Audition and pass in a test of practical ability and musicianship skills – applicants must nominate their preferred audition instruments (up to two) or intention to study composition on their QTAC application. See the School of Music’s for the list of permitted audition instruments as well as the application form for audition, which must be submitted directly to the School of Music. Academic performance is also considered; an ATAR of 78.10-99.95 is highly desirable
