Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Creative Arts
Queensland University of Technology - Kelvin Grove

Course outline

This course prepares you as teachers with specialist understandings for secondary school learners in two teaching and learning discipline areas.

The first teaching area (TA1) will be one of the Creative Arts majors—Contemporary Art, Creative Writing; Dance; Drama; Film and Screen; and Music—while the second teaching area (TA2) will be a Creative Arts area different from their first teaching area or from English, History, Geography or Mathematics.

Across the course you will demonstrate achievement of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APSTs) as required by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). You can be registered as a teacher in each State and Territory of Australia. The course meets the additional requirements of the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) for program accreditation in Queensland. The course includes substantial professional experience embedded and connected to on-campus learning. Flagship units in this course cover topics such as Indigenous education, inclusive and trauma-aware education, and digital pedagogies for future-focused teaching.
