Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours)
CQUniversity - Rockhampton

Course outline

This course equips students with valuable skills to enable them to work with people of all ages who have communication or swallowing difficulties. Education and training includes a broad range of disciplines such as psychology, allied health, and linguistics and phonetics, designed to ensure students graduate work ready. Students will complete extensive work-integrated learning opportunities at CQUniversity’s Health Clinic, and off-campus at community and clinical sites in and outside of Queensland, where they will observe and work directly with children and adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties. This allows students to consolidate the content and theory they learn in class with their developing clinical skills and gain valuable practical experience before entering the workforce. For more course information, visit Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours).

Other requirements

As a part of this course, students will undertake clinical placements. To participate in clinical placements students require a range of immunisations, vaccinations, and screenings (e.g., Hepatitis B; tuberculosis screening). The COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory  to be eligible to attend a work-integrated-learning placement for this course. Additional vaccinations and/or may also be required. Students are also required to hold a current First Aid / CPR certificate. This will depend on the type of placement site and the site location, as different states have different vaccinations regulations and requirements. Students must complete a number of clinical placements hours. There are no minimum requirements in terms of the number of hours of placement but these occur throughout the course and will require attendance on both a daily and block placement basis. Block placements may be in a remote or rural setting. For full course requirements, visit courses at CQUniversity.
