This dual degree allows students to combine studies in engineering with a wide range of majors in the arts. In the engineering component, students develop their understanding by applying science and engineering principles to engineering problems of commercial importance. In addition to technical expertise, this course emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management, problem-solving and lifelong learning. The arts component provides skills in written communication, problem-solving, critical thinking and interpersonal understanding that expand students employment opportunities. For example, students may choose to pursue language studies in order to work internationally in their field. For more information, visit Bachelors of Engineering (Hons)/Arts at UQ.
Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C) is recommended for this program. Students without Specialist Mathematics or equivalent may be required to undertake preparatory courses which may not enable the program to be completed in the minimum time frame without overloading or undertaking summer study.
Refer to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and the Bachelor of Arts.
All engineering students must complete 450 hours of engineering professional practice prior to graduation.
For additional information about the admissions criteria for UQ and for this course, refer to UQ’s website.
