Gain the education and training necessary for a career as a medical technician or technical officer in the private and public pathology laboratory sectors with UniSQ’s Associate Degree of Medical Laboratory Science. This degree also provides you with training for a career as a biomedical scientist with a research capability and/or a biomedical science support role. You gain practical experience through structured placements in a pathology laboratory and/or by attendance at residential schools. 48 days of professional clinical placement is required for the program. External students also have mandatory residential schools as part of the program.
Students must satisfy the requirements of the University of Southern Queensland and Queensland Health for clinical placement. These include evidence of immunity to notifiable and contagious diseases, Queensland Health student checklist and placement, privacy and consent deeds, and a UniSQ Student Clinical Placement Policy Declaration.
