If you are a graduate from a non-education background, this pre-service teacher education degree will give you the professional preparation to teach in primary school settings (Prep to Year 6). You may complete in 1.5 years or over 2 years. If completed over 1.5 years, you’ll be eligible to apply for teacher registration six months earlier than graduates from other universities. You’ll learn the theory and practice of teaching, including the characteristics of learners, the social and educational contexts of education, curriculum studies and professional experience in relevant settings. During your degree you will engage in at least 60 days of professional experience from your first year of study. You will also choose one of three specialisations: mathematics education, English education, or science education. Your specialisations will help prepare you to take a leadership role in schools. All three specialisations are areas of high interest and demand, making you a competitive and valuable teacher. For more course information, visit Master of Teaching – Primary at GU.
