Course outline

SAE’s Diploma of VFX and Virtual Production equips you with key foundational skills and technical knowledge you need to begin your career in the technology-based industry of your choice.

Covering the fundamentals of VFX and virtual production, you’ll develop foundational skills in cinematography, compositing, real-time engines, 2D and 3D modelling, and virtual environments.

Your growth and development as a technology-driven VFX and virtual production practitioner will be assessed through the completion of industry-based projects. This will ultimately help you build up a body of work and portfolio to share with potential employers or your first client.

To complement your technical skills, you will graduate with employability skills, introductory project management skills, and scholarly techniques for higher education.

Within a matter of months, you’ll learn the fundamentals of VFX and virtual production, setting you up for entry into junior industry roles using modern concepts and strategies and positioning you for future SAE studies including our Associate Degree or Bachelor’s program.

Areas of study: Introduction to Real-Time Engines, Cinematography, 2D and 3D Asset Production, World Building for Virtual Environments, Introduction to Compositing, Project Design and the Entrepreneur.
