This qualification provides students with the contemporary, industry-relevant marketing and business skills needed to forge a successful career. The course equips students with specialised knowledge in customer research, web design, and digital marketing and communications. Students gain practical experience developing promotional programs and business and marketing plans. They also learn how to pitch advertising concepts, identify and exploit market opportunities, and understand consumer behaviour. Learners also develop specialised knowledge in project work and workforce planning management.

The Diploma of Business/Diploma of Marketing and Communication can be combined with other programs as listed below to attain the awards of Diploma of Business and Diploma of Marketing and Communication from TAFE Queensland and the relevant degree from the university. Students undertake initial study at TAFE Queensland and complete the degree at the relevant university. Duration, location, mode of study, semester intakes, electives and specialisations may vary. All mandatory university admission and English language requirements must be met before university enrolment is finalised. For more information contact the relevant university. Note: TAFE Queensland students making a transition to the degree may need to wait six months to start with the semester one university intake.
To apply for a combined diploma/degree, applicants must select the Diploma of Business/Diploma of Marketing and Communication for TAFE Queensland on their application and then nominate their preferred degree/university (one only). Applicants can list the stand-alone diploma or the combined program but not both. Listing more than one is not needed because they have the same eligibility and OP/rank requirements.

Successful applicants must satisfactorily complete all core units from BSB42415 Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (or equivalent) before progressing to the Diploma of Marketing and Communication.
