Course outline

Students will learn how to confidently assist the anaesthetist in preparing the client for their anaesthetic, this will include checking and maintaining the anaesthetic machine, preparing anaesthetic medications, monitoring clinical measurements, assisting with airway management techniques and anticipating and responding to any anaesthetic emergency. Our highly-experienced industry health professionals will guide students every step of the way to ensure their transition into the health sector is a success. TAFE Queensland’s designated learning space with state-of-the-art anaesthetic machines, vital signs monitors, difficult intubation equipment, and simulator mannequins, will prepare graduates for real-world situations while under the supervision of industry professionals.

Prior to commencing clinical placement, students may be required to satisfy requirements relating to a criminal history check, Blue Card (Working with Children check), vaccinations and Senior First Aid certificate.
