Take your understanding of accounting and finance to the next level with this Certificate IV/Diploma qualification. This course is ideal for people seeking employment in the accounting, business and finance sectors. During this course students will develop an advanced understanding of financial reporting, budget management and forecasting, income tax returns, and providing accurate accounting advice. TAFE Queensland’s highly-experienced teaching staff will support students to develop industry-ready skills. Learners will graduate with analytical skills and knowledge of current technologies, resources, accounting procedures and techniques. Successful completion of this course qualifies students to work in the business and finance sector and prepares graduates for further study at a tertiary level with great articulation opportunities with a range of universities.

Combined diploma/degrees

The Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping/Diploma of Accounting can be combined with other programs as listed below to attain the awards of Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping/Diploma of Accounting from TAFE Queensland and the relevant degree from the university. Students undertake initial study at TAFE Queensland and complete the degree at the relevant university. Duration, location, mode of study, semester intake, electives and specialisations may vary. All mandatory university admission and English language requirements must be met before university enrolment is finalised. For more information contact the relevant university. Note: TAFE Queensland students making transition to the degree may need to wait six months to start with the semester one university intake.

To apply for a combined certificate IV/diploma/degree, applicants must select the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping/Diploma of Accounting for the relevant TAFE Queensland location on their application and nominate their preferred degree/university (one only). Applicants can list the stand alone certificate IV/diploma or the combined program but not both. Listing more than one is not needed because they have the same eligibility and ATAR/rank requirements.

Additional entry requirements

To be eligible to enrol in the Diploma of Accounting applicants must have successfully completed all of the following units of competency (or equivalent): FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports, FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers, FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry and FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports. These competencies may have been achieved through completion of the following (or their equivalent): FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set or FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
