Science is at the heart of every facet of life. It is a fascinating career choice, with research and development at its core. In this degree you’ll study all areas of the sciences before specialising with your choice of major. You’ll have the flexibility to decide what interests you the most, so you can shape a career that you’re passionate about in the biological, clinical, chemical, physical or mathematical sciences. You’ll have access to experts from renowned research centres who are focussed on solving the big problems that face us today. They’re developing new drugs to combat cancer and infectious diseases, new sources of energy to power our society, and new ways to manage our waterways and improve food production. Note

Griffith offers a number of admission pathways to your preferred degree. If you don’t meet the minimum ATAR/selection rank for this degree, you will automatically be considered for a place in the Diploma of Applied Science/Bachelor of Science. This means you may receive an offer into the Bachelor of Science which is conditional on successful completion of the Diploma of Applied Science at Griffith University. Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Applied Science you will be transferred into the second year of the Bachelor of Science program. Majors

Applied mathematics; archaeology (Nathan only); biochemistry and molecular biology; chemistry; clinical sciences (Nathan only); data science; geography; marine biology (Gold Coast only); microbiology (Nathan only); physics; wildlife biology. Students can choose up to two majors.

Combined diploma/degrees

Refer to entry under Griffith University for: D Applied Science/B Science. Depending on major, refer to entries under Griffith College for: D Health Sciences/B Science; D Science/B Science.

Additional entry requirements

Applicants applying to commence in Trimester 3, 2023 also need to meet the following subject prerequisite: Any General or Applied English subject (Units 3 and 4, C). Career opportunities

Depending on your major, you’ll be prepared for a wide array of careers in biological, chemical and clinical sciences as a microbiologist, pharmaceutical scientist, biochemist, chemist or biotechnologist; mathematician or physicist; or, with further study, in a broader role for example as a science journalist, patent lawyer, or science teacher. Increasingly, employers in the finance sector are looking to employ science graduates in a wide range of areas that require research and analytical skills, including the application of mathematics and statistics in the finance sector. You may also choose to undertake a fourth year research honours program which can lead to a PhD and a career in research.
