Course outline

This course prepares you as an ambulance paramedic when you graduate. Foundation studies in the anatomy and physiology of the human body and an introduction to health and disease concepts and statistical methods in health are followed by advanced units with an increasing emphasis on clinical skills through supervised practice with the Queensland Ambulance Service.

You complete placements in metro and regional areas of Queensland, or travel overseas and work on shift with paramedics in other services.

Other qualifications and experiences may be allocated selection ranks for entry to other QUT courses, but will not be considered for this course.

Other requirements

A Suitability Card is required; refer to institution. Before undertaking clinical placements with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), you must undertake a QAS medical assessment (including mandatory vaccination & immunisation requirements) and have a criminal history check.

Additional entry requirements

You must have completed a degree (or equivalent) in a medical science or health science field in 2014 or more recently.

If you completed your degree earlier than 2014 you must provide evidence with your QTAC application of your graduate work experience and/or completed further studies in a medical science or health science gained in 2014 or more recently.

Completed graduate diplomas, masters and/or doctorates are the accepted equivalents with a minimum volume of learning of 1.00 year full-time (or equivalent).
