Course outline

Become a leader in occupational therapy and help others maximise their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The course provides students with an underpinning knowledge in professional practice, human body systems, psychology and contemporary health care. The education and training includes occupational therapy units covering a wide range of practice contexts, and develops skills in areas such as assessment, service development, evaluation and critical thinking, enabling students to graduate work ready. The course has a strong focus on practical learning experiences and students benefit from industry placements across a range of practice areas, including the purpose-built Allied Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton. For more course information, visit Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours).

Note

This course has strict enrolment requirements. Successful applicants must accept the offer and enrol in units with CQU by the date stated on the offer letter. If you fail to do so, or if you withdraw from your units within this course, your offer will be revoked. This requirement applies irrespective of whether you accepted conditionally or unconditionally in your QTAC application.

Other requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 1000 hours of professional practice. Some of this is integrated within earlier units of the course, and there are two additional full-time professional education (WIL) blocks. Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) placements apply to this course and as such are subject to compulsory pre-placement conditions referred to as mandatory checks. Mandatory checks are determined by industry, organisations, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures. For full course requirements, including mandatory health requirements such as immunisation and vaccination advice, security and other compulsory requirements, visit Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours).
