The Bachelor of Nutrition / Master of Nutrition and Dietetics aims to develop students’ professional skills related to the practice of nutrition and dietetics to influence the management of medical conditions and enhance general wellbeing through nutritional intervention and dietary changes. Throughout this course, students will develop a high level of technical and evaluative skill so they can assess and implement recommendations for best practice in nutrition and dietetics. Students will develop advanced skills and knowledge in nutritional biochemistry, nutritional physiology, food science, nutritional assessment, medical nutrition therapy, public health nutrition and food service. This course combines both the Bachelor of Nutrition and the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics courses offered at CQUniversity in an integrated and fast-tracked format. Note

This course has strict enrolment requirements. Successful applicants must accept the offer and enrol in units with CQU by the date stated on the offer letter. If you fail to do so, or if you withdraw from your units within this course, your offer will be revoked. This requirement applies irrespective of whether you accepted conditionally or unconditionally in your QTAC application.

Other requirements

Students can commence the course online and study remotely. However, they will need to attend CQU’s North Rockhampton campus for residential schools for four days in year 2 and one day in year 3 during the Bachelor of Nutrition component, and attend compulsory weekly activities on-campus for two terms in duration during the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics component of the course. A dietitian is a health professional who contributes towards the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of illness by optimising the nutrition of populations, communities and individuals. Dietitians have a defined and recognisable body of knowledge and utilise scientific principles and methods in the study of nutrition and dietetics, applying these results to influence the wider environment affecting food intake and eating behaviour. The scope of dietetic practice is such that dietitians may work in a variety of settings and have a variety of work functions.
