External students must attend residential schools at the Toowoomba campus.
Students must satisfy the requirements of the University of Southern Queensland and Queensland Health for clinical placement. These include evidence of immunity to notifiable and contagious diseases, Queensland Health student checklist and placement, privacy and consent deeds, and a UniSQ Student Clinical Placement Policy Declaration. All students must complete 80 days of clinical experience in Australia.

Graduates pursue careers in the public and private pathology laboratory industry or research, technical, advisory and commercial roles in the biomedical field.
This degree is accredited with the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists (AIMS) and upon graduation you’ll be eligible for professional membership of AIMS and be classified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Graduates are also eligible to apply for membership to other professional organisations, including the Australian Society for Microbiology, Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Australian Society for Medical Research.
