Course outline

The Bachelor of Health Science is a practical course designed to develop well-rounded skills and provide students with a foundation learning opportunity. In this course, students will develop their knowledge in a broad range of topics including anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, evidence-based practice, health psychology, and rural health. This course will provide students with opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in rich and authentic learning environments through laboratory activities, research projects and work-integrated learning where they will be engaged in genuine, real life professional experiences. Completing the Bachelor of Health Science is the ideal pathway for progression into specialised postgraduate or graduate-entry courses in areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, podiatry or public health. Note

All students will be required to attend a compulsory Residential School for ALLH11010 Skills for Allied Health Assistants, regardless of study mode. Students may also be required to attend additional compulsory residential schools throughout their study if they choose to study online, or select a major or minor with a residential school component.

Other requirements

Students are required to undertake a professional placement in an Allied Health setting and a professional placement in a health setting relevant to their chosen major/minor of study. For full course requirements, visit Bachelor of Health Science.

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years
