Course outline

This course aims to produce a civil engineer skilled in both high-level engineering design and building design. In this course, students will analyse and design numerous civil infrastructures such as roads, water resources, and buildings taking into account factors such as codes and statutes, infrastructure sustainability, and contracts. This course has a strong focus on learning in context so students will apply theory to authentic scenarios throughout their course including industry projects. During the course, students will complete a major individual project that integrates both civil engineering skills and building design skills to confirm their ability to work as a civil engineer and a building design specialist. For more course information, visit Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil Design) and Diploma of Building Design.

Note

Most units in this course are offered in online mode. Some units will have compulsory residential schools for online students. These Residential Schools give students an opportunity to develop and demonstrate practical skills.

Other requirements

Students are required to complete 480 hours (including a minimum of 240 hours of industry experience) of Engineering Professional Practice prior to graduation. Once students have completed the professional practice requirements, they must provide evidence of how they have attained the professional engineering practice exposure required by Engineers Australia. For full course requirements, visit the course webpage.
