Course outline

This course prepares students for a diverse career as a professional engineer. Students have a choice of majors in traditional engineering disciplines as well as dual major options that will prepare them for emerging specialist fields of engineering including civil with humanitarian engineering, electrical with data analytics, electrical with information processing, electrical with industrial automation, and mechanical with industrial automation. This course develops students’ problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills and incorporates project-based learning so they can graduate work ready. The first year of study allows students to experience engineering projects from different disciplines which will assist them in deciding which engineering discipline and course major they wish to pursue. Note

Some units will have a compulsory residential schools for students who study online. These residential schools give students an opportunity to develop and demonstrate practical skills.

Majors

Civil; Civil with Humanitarian; Electrical; Electrical with Data Analytics; Electrical with Information Processing; Electrical with Industrial Automation; Mechanical; Mechanical with Industrial Automation; Resource Systems.

Other requirements

Students are required to complete 480 hours (including a minimum of 240 hours of industry experience) of Engineering Professional Practice prior to graduation. Once students have completed the professional practice requirements, they must provide evidence of how they have attained the professional engineering practice exposure required by Engineers Australia. Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years
