This double degree is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in education, specialising in physical education, personal development or health education. The double degree combines compulsory education, curriculum and teaching units. Students select units in an exercise science major and in a minor of choice to qualify to teach in two core discipline areas. Students must complete mandated, supervised professional experience placements in educational contexts as continuous, full-time blocks to meet teacher accreditation requirements in Australia. Students must also undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Suitability Card as required by relevant jurisdictions before the first professional experience placement. All students in initial teacher education courses must meet the LANTITE test standard prior to graduation. You need to demonstrate once that you have met the standard for each test component (literacy and numeracy) before you undertake your final teaching placement. Test results are transferrable and do not expire. Transferring into an ITE course from another institution does not reset your LANTITE sitting allowance. If you have not met the standard for either component after your first attempt, it is very important that you contact the Course Coordinator immediately to discuss your options.
