Course outline

This course provides professional and academic education for graduates to teach in primary and secondary school years from early years to year 12. Students will develop knowledge and skills in primary curriculum and one specialist secondary teaching area. By selecting religious education and/or theology units, you will be eligible to teach in Catholic and other faith-based schools. For more course information, visit Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) at ACU.

Fee notes

Average first year fee. Indicative only; subject to passage of legislation.

Other requirements

Students must complete mandated, supervised professional experience placements in educational contexts as continuous, full-time blocks to meet teacher accreditation requirements in Australia. Students must also undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Suitability Card as required by relevant jurisdictions before the first professional experience placement. For successful completion of all initial teacher education courses, students are required to demonstrate they have met mandatory approved benchmarks in both literacy and numeracy, evidenced through LANTITE (Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education). Transferring into an ITE course from another institution does not reset your LANTITE sitting allowance. If you have not met the standard for either component after your first attempt, it is very important that you contact the Course Coordinator immediately to discuss your options.
