Course outline

This online or on-campus course prepares you for the full range of Primary years teaching (Prep-Year 6) with a strong focus on building academic capacity, personal development and a love of learning within students. It provides comprehensive curriculum and pedagogical studies infused with value-rich Christian perspectives and offers opportunities for additional specialisations in English, Mathematics, HASS or Science. Extensive professional experience placements are available across all education sectors and localities within Australia. Our aim is to develop you into an inspirational and transformative educator.

The fees listed are for 2022. Fees for 2023 are to be advised. Actual study cost will be determined by unit field of education.

Other requirements

Students complete 110 days of supervised practicum during the course. Students may have to travel and incur costs associated with travel and accommodation. Students are generally placed in Brisbane and south-east Queensland, although placements are available further afield. Students experience at least one placement outside Brisbane and are encouraged to consider rural placements. A Suitability Card is required; refer to institution. Students must undertake and meet the benchmark for the Personal Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Educators (LANTITE) prior to graduation.

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C); Any General subject from the Sciences Learning Area (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; LANTITE Literacy status; LANTITE Numeracy status; Teaching Personal Statement
