Course outline

This course is for students interested in teaching children from birth to five years, who see themselves as future educational leaders in the field, with units that address individual teacher identity and professional development. Students gain a strong grounding in curriculum and are well equipped with the knowledge and skills to respond to the diversity within the sector. Note

In addition to on-campus study, this course is available by flexible delivery, which means students have the opportunity to study the entire degree fully online or in a blended mode and can choose between online and on-campus units according to individual preference. This course does not lead to primary or secondary teacher registration.

Other requirements

Students must complete professional and volunteer experience in line with the requirements of the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority, as continuous, full-time blocks. This consists of prior-to-school based learning experiences, structured observational tasks, community engagement, and Professional Experience Program in prior-to-school settings. A Suitability Card is required; refer to institution.

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C)
