Help build a healthy society by applying new scientific knowledge to medicine and healthcare as a biomedical scientist. In this degree, you’ll learn the methods for researching, diagnosing and treating disease, emphasising applications to biomedical research, medicine and healthcare services. The knowledge and skills developed during this degree can be applied to medicine, biomedical research and other healthcare professions such as pharmacy, speech pathology, and rehabilitation counselling. In your first year, you’ll be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning biomedical science. Advanced years include healthcare-focused courses in anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, infectious disease, microbiology, neuroscience, pharmacology and physiology. Students have the option to undertake a third-year research project in one of the University’s research centres or affiliated medical research institutions.
