Course outline

In this highly-recognised degree, you will be equipped with the skills needed for lifelong learning in the evolving aviation environment. This degree is the first step to gaining your commercial pilot licence and has strong ties to major airlines across Australia. You will be introduced to the skills underpinning the theory and practice of flight training and study courses in areas such as human factors, aerodynamics, aviation law, atmospheric science, navigation and flight planning. Study a double degree with Engineering or IT to further broaden your career pathways. You will graduate as a well-rounded aviation professional with one of Australia’s most highly regarded aerospace qualifications. As a graduate of this degree, you ‘ll be able to apply for entry into the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management at Griffith, to get the skills and qualifications needed to work as a commercial pilot. Note

Students study over three trimesters each year, completing the three year program in two years. The Bachelor of Aviation standard entry pathway (applications through QTAC) is ONLY offered on-campus (Nathan) and ONLY offered as a Trimester 1 intake. Students must attend the Nathan campus to undertake this pathway and must commence in Trimester 1. Professional entry students apply online directly to Griffith University.

Career opportunities

The Bachelor of Aviation, together with the Graduate Diploma of Flight Management, will allow graduates to be ready to work in the aviation industry as a commercial pilot. Graduates of these programs will find employment opportunities in charter work, regional airlines, flight instruction (theory and practice), aerial services (agricultural spraying, aerial surveying and photography), and in government organisations such as Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
