Course outline

Students can pursue a career in education, working with young people in Years 7-12 in secondary schools, and develop specialist knowledge in two distinct teaching areas selected from a range on offer. The program requires students to undertake 60 days of supervised professional experience where they develop the knowledge and skills to inspire their own students. Completion of this program gives graduates the chance to make a difference in secondary education or an associated field nationally or internationally. Note

This program includes compulsory placements in settings that require full COVID-19 vaccination. Only first year courses offered at Moreton Bay in 2023.

Other requirements

Students complete 60 days of supervised professional experience. Students must undergo a criminal history check and obtain a Suitability Card (Blue Card) before the first professional learning experience; refer to institution. Students undertaking an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program are required to undertake and meet the benchmark in the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Educators. Additional entry requirements

To satisfy the prior study prerequisite, completion of a non-education bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7) or equivalent, with a minimum GPA of 4.0 from a recognised tertiary institution, is required. In addition, applicants must satisfy the discipline study requirements of at least one-quarter of a degree in a nominated first teaching area and one-sixth of a degree in a nominated second teaching area. Applicants from a non-English speaking background must attain an Academic IELTS score of at least 7.5 with a minimum of 8.0 in speaking and listening and 7.0 in all other subtests, obtained within two years prior to the commencement of the program.
