Course outline

Students gain skills in providing professional guidance to assist others in resolving personal or professional problems. In the higher education diploma year, students develop fundamental academic skills and cement their knowledge in foundation subjects and core concepts. On successful completion be ready to progress into the Griffith University Bachelor of Counselling with 70 credit points. You’ll gain the theoretical knowledge and applied skills that prepare you to register and practice as a professional counsellor. Students gain advanced counselling skills by completing a counselling practicum, counselling theory and practice, methods of coaching and group facilitation, and case management. Note

Progression to the bachelor’s degree is limited to a quota of five places per intake at Mt Gravatt (unlimited places are available at Gold Coast).
