This comprehensive diploma course is ideal for people wanting to work in the fast-paced world of graphic design, digital design and visual communications. Students will gain a diverse range of skills in technical and theoretical design principles and their application in everyday design. Students will expand on their creative talents through practical exercises in typography, branding, packaging, digital and online design, illustration and portfolio design, all while working in a collaborative, studio environment. Students will have access to commercial grade studios and the opportunity to develop close industry contact through site visits to professional design studios. The degree has a strong focus on visual communication in the global marketplace and how to design for both business and consumer audiences across different cultural contexts. You’ll graduate with a thorough knowledge of typography, logotype design, layout, publication design, environmental graphics, packaging and digital design.
This combined qualification leads to the awards of the Diploma of Graphic Design and Bachelor of Digital Design (Visual Communication Design). The degree is delivered by TAFE Queensland in partnership with the University of Canberra. Applicants offered a place in the diploma course who are not eligible for a subsidised enrolment will pay full fee. VET Student Loans may be available to eligible applicants for study in the diploma, refer to tafeqld.edu.au/study-with-us/what-it-costs/index.html for more information.
