Course outline

This course is an entry-level, professionally-accredited qualification to practise as a social worker. Particular emphasis is placed on social justice and human rights as the basis for social work practice. Core units focus on counselling, case management, mental health, human services, research, youth work, disability and development, combined with the choice of a shared minor/electives or an embedded Honours program if students are interested in pursuing research in this field. Students complete 1,000 hours of supervised placement in a human service organisation as part of the course. Some units are only available online and require attendance at on-campus workshops. This course is also available online and includes a three-day residential at the Gold Coast campus; contact Southern Cross University.
