Course outline

Students take a common first year of engineering subjects to develop a broad skills base in order to choose a preferred engineering major. Engineering design is a central theme of the course. This five-year program enables students to combine their engineering degree with a science major. This course is accredited by Engineers Australia.

For Bachelor of Engineering, not all majors are available at all campuses and no engineering majors are available for mid-year entry. Only the first year of the aquaculture science and technology, marine biology and mathematics science majors in the Bachelor of Science can be studied in Cairns.

Other requirements

Students must complete at least 60 days of engineering professional practice prior to graduation and hold a Senior First Aid certificate at time of graduation.

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); Mathematical Methods (Units 3 and 4, C); Completion of Year 12 or attained age 18 years

Assumed knowledge

Students considering the molecular and cell biology major will require Chemistry (Units 3 and 4, C) or equivalent.
