Course outline

A common first year of study provides a broad skills base for students to develop sound theoretical knowledge and gain practical experiences. Engineering design, communication and project management are central to the course. Students choose one major and undertake a full-year thesis in the final year, completing a significant research project. Students also choose one of several minors such as maths, physics, software or sustainability. This course is accredited by Engineers Australia.

Majors

Townsville: chemical engineering; civil engineering; electrical and electronic engineering; mechanical engineering. Cairns: electrical and electronic engineering; electronic systems and internet of things engineering.

Other requirements

Students must complete at least 60 days of professional engineering practice prior to graduation and hold a Senior First Aid certificate at time of graduation.
