Course outline

As a graduate, you are supported by specialist academics and experience real-world opportunities that prepares you to teach. Professional experience placements provide the opportunity to work in real educational settings, supervised by practising professional educators.

You must take the majority of your professional experience in Australian primary or secondary schools.

Secondary graduates are prepared to teach in two teaching areas from biology, chemistry, earth and environmental science, English, geography, health and physical education, history, mathematics, mathematics extension and physics in a secondary school setting. You may only take one mathematics or science teaching area.

QUT Offer Guarantee: If you achieve an ATAR/QUT selection rank of 75.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfied all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course.

A Suitability Card is required; refer to institution. You must successfully complete the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students to graduate.

Prerequisites

English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C); General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 and 4, C); Applicant must be 16; Completion of Year 12 or attained age 18 years; LANTITE Literacy status; LANTITE Numeracy status; Teaching Personal Statement

Applicants who have failed two or more attempts of either component of the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students, and have not passed it in a later attempt, are not eligible for entry.
