Professional Development Workshops for Secondary Teachers and Careers Advisors

2018 Workshops

We are pleased to advise that the 2018 Brisbane workshop dates have been confirmed and are listed below. 

Thanks to 2017 attendee feedback and suggestions, the one and two-day seminars have been refreshed with the development of a new Workshop Toolkit for attendees to scan prior to the workshop day.

The Workshop Toolkit contains recommended reading modules which attendees can familiarise themselves with, depending on the workshop they are attending.

For example, the New to QTAC Workshop attendees will want to read the Welcome to QTAC, Post-Secondary Education in Queensland and Application Basics modules. QTAC Refresher Workshop attendees may choose to skip straight to the Admissions Transparency, My Path or Adjustment Factors module.

The modules are designed to provide robust information for registered attendees prior to workshops to allow for discussion, questions and practical engagement on the workshop day.

There are two choices of workshop available:

1.       New to QTAC Workshop

The New to QTAC workshop has been designed for those education professionals new to our world and provides a practical introduction to QTAC, our systems, data analytics, application process and practical tips for helping students through the preferencing process. It also acquaints attendees with the tertiary education industry trends and information.

2.       QTAC Refresher Workshop

the QTAC Refresher workshop provides returning careers advisors and education professionals with the opportunity to revisit our application and preferencing processes, as well as providing a more in-depth look at any other relevant information such as industry trends, data and statistics.

Both workshops are fully catered and provide a day of professional upskilling, collegial interaction, learning activities and the ability to ask questions as well as engage with QTAC industry experts. 

The workshops comply with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers standard 7.

The workshops commence at 9.30am and finish by 3.30pm.

Please take note of the date that will suit your schedule. The ability to book and pay for the workshops will be activated early in the New Year.

Regional Queensland workshops will be held in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, with the option of a Noosa workshop if the demand is evident.

Regional dates will be confirmed shortly, but are likely to be in March, May and June.

2018 Year 12 School Talks

Our specialist staff can conduct information sessions at your school, designed particularly for your Year 12 students and their parents.

Presentations can be scheduled during school hours or in the evening so parents can attend.

Topics can be tailored to your school's needs, but generally include:

  • how to apply through QTAC
  • entry requirements
  • ordering preferences
  • pathways
  • important dates and deadlines
  • EAS scheme
  • adjustment factors.
