As a Bachelor of Music graduate, you’ll be highly skilled, musically adaptable and equipped to enter professional life as a creative and flexible 21st century musician. This degree will expose you to diverse musical styles and idioms including classical, contemporary, jazz, popular, electronic and experimental music. You’ll also learn the broadly accepted musical skills of aural awareness training, music theory, critical listening, contemporary music-making practices and music history; your education will also extend to collaborative work appropriate to your field of study. Performing before a live audience is an essential part of the Queensland Conservatorium experience. Applicants must apply to QTAC, pay their audition fee and submit their phase one video recorded audition or Folio and Artistic Statement to Griffith University by 6 September2023 to be guaranteed an audition in the first audition round. Applicants who wish to apply after this date may be considered in subsequent audition and offer rounds should places still be available. Admission to this program requires applicants to submit a video recorded audition and Artistic Statement as the first phase of a two-phase process. For performance specialisations, phase two will require you to attend an audition and interview. The phase one component for composition and creative music technology specialisations requires the submission of a Folio and Artistic Statement, and for phase two you will be required to attend an interview. Visit the Griffith University website for details of audition requirements including how to pay for audition fees, submit your video recorded audition or Folio and Artistic Statement to the Queensland Conservatorium by 6 September 2023. Phase two auditions will take place at the Queensland Conservatorium, South Bank from 25 to 29 September 2023. Percussion: Classical percussion and timpani. Classical voice.
Jazz specialisations: Instrumental: jazz saxophone, jazz clarinet, jazz flute, jazz trumpet, jazz trombone, jazz violin, jazz piano, jazz guitar, jazz bass, jazz drums, jazz vibraphone. Jazz Voice. Popular Music specialisations: Instrumental: Piano/keyboard, drums, electric bass guitar, guitar. Popular Voice, Composition, Creative Music Technology. Griffith Guaranteed Admission Schemes do not apply to this program.
