The Bachelor of Education (K-12 Teaching) is a unique dual sector teacher education course that offers two career pathways for graduates. It is an undergraduate teacher education qualification that encompasses working in both Primary Schools and Secondary Schools. All candidates complete a NESA or National primary specialisation with a curriculum focus.
The following are NESA primary specialisations: a Language; Mathematics; or Science and Technology.
Students completing a NESA specialisation will receive a NSW Department of Education code on their teacher registration documentation which may advantage them for future employment in NSW Government schools. All other students will complete a National specialisation in English/Literacy.

This course is accredited with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).
The course includes 80 days of professional experience of which 10 days are online, 20 days are in a primary school setting, 20 days are in a primary or middle school setting and 30 days are in a secondary school setting. Students must complete a number of requirements prior to undertaking a professional experience placement; refer to institution for details. In Queensland, a Blue Card is required. Teacher education students must pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students before their final-year professional experience placement; visit Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students Fact Sheet for more information. Students must also complete a Teaching Performance Assessment during their final professional experience placement.

Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; Teaching Personal Statement
English (Units 3 and 4, A); a minimum of two other General subjects (Units 3 and 4, A). Contact the University for more information about the Teaching Personal Statement. Applicants from a non-English speaking background including Australian citizens are advised that this course has a higher English language requirement than many UNE courses.
